THAT ONE SUNNY DAY
- Class of 2026

That one blazing summer day, just a year ago, I was at my grandparents' place for my summer break. I'm all about that chill life, and nothing beats chilling on this dope hill next to a lake. I've got this sweet spot up there, a cozy little nook under a canopy where I spend all my time.
So, there I was, hanging out with my little brother, who's two years younger than me. Since it was summer, the sun was a little rough and my brother came up with this genius idea to build some shade, and I said, “Let's do it!" We wanted to build it with some dry sticks and palm leaves we found lying around, using the trees as our support, but the real adventure began when we decided to raid the forest for more sticks. That place was like a whole other world, cool and quiet, like stepping into a different dimension. We were scavenging for sticks when suddenly, we heard a peacock singing out some tunes, leading us straight to this cave-like spot hidden in the trees.
And guess what we found? A peacock and its little ones, playing outside the cave. It was such a beautiful sight to look at, we watched them for a bit, but once they spotted us, they rushed back into the cave seeking refuge within the cavernous depths of their sanctuary. Returning to the comforting embrace of my grandparent's home, I regaled them with tales of our woodland sojourn, the warmth of their smiles matching the setting sun. As we shared the tale over some cool drinks, I realized that amidst nature's splendor, amidst the simple joys of companionship and discovery, lies the true essence of summer's embrace.
